ACW_NIKE TN98: An interplay of refinement and abstraction through the lens of a timeless icon.

A-COLD-WALL* & Nike continue their creative collaboration with the release of the ACW_NIKE TN98, a refined silhouette expanding on both the cultural significance and radical innovation of the original 1998 Nike Air Max Plus TN.

Elegant full-grain leather forms the basis of this latest release. Designed to age and patina with wear, this subtle textural element alters the look and feel of the TN98. Embellishment arrives in understated expression. A concealed ACW* bracket logo sits beneath a ridged TPU heel plate while the tongue carries transparent UV dual branding. Additionally, laser etching has been employed to craft a lateral swoosh and compact squares; a specifically ACW* nod to geometry.

The fourth chapter in the deep rooted A-COLD-WALL* & Nike partnership.

An intensely hued Onyx colourway plays with shadow, a new presentation of the TN98’s famed exoskeleton both revealed and concealed in changing light conditions. For this latest release designer Samuel Ross returns to familiar ground. Taking cues from brutalist design philosophy, emphasis has been placed on stripped back construction and exposed engineering, the shoe’s minimal finish underlined in this all-black iteration.

Embracing imperfection through exposure of the making process.

Continuing the monochromatic theme, an all-white Stone palette offers a bright counterpoint, silhouette and materials recontextualised. Here the shoe’s comfort-focused Nike Air bubble cushioning unit comes into sharp focus, its aged finish designed to weather over time, a reference to our changing urban environment. Fragility and imperfection embraced.

TN98 Ageing Process

The principle of design-driven ageing is a cornerstone that runs through the lineage of the A-COLD-WALL* and Nike partnership, the ACW_TN98 is developed to evolve through wear, with the two-tone leather upper gradually shifting hue over time.

A-COLD-WALL* & Nike Air Max Plus 98 in House Blue

For this latest iteration of the TN98, House Blue represents a wider preoccupation with industrial spaces and modernist British architecture; Richard Rogers' iconic external blue pipework a key touchpoint. From logos to uniforms, blue’s omnipresence across both private and public utilities speaks to its inherent sense of authenticity. Blue denotes purity, functionality, safety and trust, its recurrence across A-COLD-WALL*’s shared visual language testament to its power.

A core colourway across the ACW* brand universe, this intensely pigmented shade of blue plays a pivotal role both through seasonal collections and global retail locations - a unifying theme. Dominating the label's concept spaces and bricks-and-mortar locations, this palette becomes both a solid backdrop and structural x-frame. A tone-setting device, impactful and energising.
